Uber Eats is rolling out new social-first features for users to take control of their app experience, and share with their friends. It’s called Uber Eats Lists.
You might find yourself in a new city, eager to try something new. But instead of enjoying the foodie experience, you scroll endlessly through the options, unsure of what to order.
This is where Uber Eats’ new social twist on food delivery comes into play.
Uber Eats Lists
The feature is being tested in New York City and Chicago, with plans to expand to additional cities in due course.
The popular online food delivery company says the new Lists feature lets you “discover, create and share the best of Uber Eats with just a few taps, and without leaving the app.”
Discover new experiences
Uber Eats Lists can be found within the app’s home feed. It features curated ‘best of’ collections created by foodie influencers and Uber Eats users in your city.
The purpose of these collections is to “help you discover hidden gems,” Uber Eats says. “Or simply the best gyro within your delivery area.”
Create and skip the scroll
If you’re a connoisseur of cookies, for example, you can create and curate custom Lists of your favorite cookie delights, and where to get them.
Maybe you are very particular about your deep-dish pizza? Curate custom Lists of the top pizza spots and your favorite items from their menus.
This way, you’ll always have your go-tos at your fingertips. No more foodie doom-scrolling when all you need is to get food delivered!
These custom curated Lists can be built, editorialized and edited under your ‘Account’ tab.
Share and be social
If you find the perfect meal and no one is around to witness it, did it really happen?
Or as Uber Eats puts it: “Gate-keeping is deeply uncool.”
That’s why Lists are “shareable by default.” You can either share it directly with your friends or family, or make it public and “become a community tastemaker.”
Maybe you’ll get lucky and Uber Eats will feature your public list on the home feed for discovery, to inspire other users in your area.
Uber says this is the first time they’re putting “curation directly into the hands of consumers.”
Uber Eats Lists: Need curation inspiration?
Lists can cater to your every mood and moment. While Uber Eats suggests ‘Date night desserts’ and ‘toddler-approved dinners’, we couldn’t resist coming up with a few quirky ideas of our own.
You might need a list for ‘breakup emergency ice cream spots’, or ‘meals that won’t judge your Netflix binge.’
Create a list called ‘hangry human helpers’ for whenever your personality depends on prompt feeding, or perhaps a list for ‘Monday morning survival snacks.’
How about ‘Foods Worth Breaking Your Diet For’ for all your favorites or ‘impressive first date feeds that won’t stain your outfit.’
The possibilities are endless, and deliciously entertaining.
