Starship Technologies, the global leader in autonomous delivery, and Bolt have joined forces to launch an innovative food delivery service.
This marks the debut of their commercial partnership, formed last year between these two Estonian tech powerhouses.
Together, they’re bringing a first-of-its-kind delivery experience to Tallinn, Estonia, setting a new standard for Europe.
Affordable last-mile delivery option
Starship’s advanced robots and Bolt’s fast-growing delivery tech are teaming up to transform urban mobility in Europe. With this partnership, Bolt now offers a more flexible, sustainable, and affordable last-mile delivery option, allowing couriers to focus on longer routes.
Over 180,000 residents in Tallinn can enjoy eco-friendly robot deliveries from three Bolt Market stores—Tulika, Pallasti, and Mustika—via the Bolt Food app. For a limited time, these robot deliveries will be free.
This new service offers a fast, convenient, and eco-friendly way for Bolt users to stock their fridges in minutes. By giving customers an alternative to driving for groceries, this collaboration supports both companies’ mission to reduce traffic congestion and create more sustainable urban spaces.
Starship robots: pioneering autonomous delivery
Starship was founded by Ahti Heinla and Janus Friis, co-creators of Skype. Here’s how the company is pioneering autonomous delivery:
- 7 million deliveries completed – more than any other autonomous delivery provider.
- 8.5 million miles driven – outpacing all competitors in the autonomous space.
- Energy-efficient – each delivery uses the same energy as boiling a kettle for one cup of tea.
- Level 4 autonomy since 2018 – operating at an advanced level for six years.
- 150,000 daily crossings globally – that’s 3 crossings every second.
- Over 100 locations worldwide – Starship robots are making deliveries across the globe.
Sustainable, scalable last-mile delivery solution
Ahti Heinla, Co-founder and CEO of Starship Technologies says: “This collaboration is not just about convenience and greater choice; by integrating our robots into the Bolt Food app, we’re offering a sustainable, scalable last-mile delivery solution that reduces local traffic and emissions.
Heinla adds that this an exciting step forward for both the companies as they continue to innovate and pave the way for greener cities across Europe.
Bolt serves over 200 million customers across 50 countries and 600 cities in Europe and Africa. It offers ride-hailing, rentals, Bolt Food, and Bolt Market. Bolt Market is a fast-delivery e-grocery store with products from fresh food to household items.
Jevgeni Kabanov, President of Bolt, commented: “With the launch of Starship Technologies robot deliveries in Tallinn this now provides a new delivery experience for Bolt Market customers.”
