Faster deliveries in the food and catering industry are difficult during peak hours when everyone wants to eat at the same time. Zomato has devised a unique solution to help restaurants prepare better, and customers feel more in control of their orders.
The Zomato app now allows customers to schedule their orders up to two hours or two days in advance.
This is not necessarily only for large orders. Even if you need a coffee fix in the office, you can schedule these orders so that you know when you arrive, you’ll have your coffee in your hand.
Win for customers and restaurants
Restaurants are overburdened during peak hours, with an influx of orders and hungry customers all wanting to eat at the same time. To avoid disappointment (and a cold dinner), Zomato is now giving customers a tool to help improve deliveries.
Can better prepping take place if kitchens know well in advance what order is expected to go out at what time or day?
You might wonder if the food will still be fresh if you order in advance. Zomato assures customers that food will be prepared fresh on the day and that no old food will be served.
Zomato’s order scheduling is available at more than 35,000 restaurants in 30 cities, including Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, and others.
Restaurants can prepare better with Zomato scheduling
Advance orders help restaurants to make up time when there are “slower periods” during the day. This means there could be a more steady stream of cooking taking place throughout the day.
With a two-day order placement window, there is still space to opt-out if any changes need to be made.
Zomato says its cancellation policy for scheduling allows customers to cancel their order three hours before the scheduled delivery.
