GPS Devices
We offer three variants: (1) OBD-II Port Device — plugs into your vehicle's OBD port with a 4G SIM card included; (2) Rugged GPS Hardwired Device — installed by an auto-electrician for added security against theft; (3) Battery Powered Device — designed for trailers and equipment, transmits location daily or more frequently when in recovery mode. All include a 4G SIM card.
We use a global SIM card provider that automatically switches to the best carrier in your area.
The OBD-II port is usually located under the dashboard, beneath the steering wheel column.
Yes, the OBD-II port device is plug-and-play and you can connect it yourself. The hardwired device requires a professional auto-electrician for installation.
Yes. Our battery-powered device supports recovery mode which sends frequent GPS coordinates so you can locate and recover the asset.
It will run for up to 7 years using 3 AA batteries under normal operating conditions.
App and Features
The Locate2u app lets you enter bookings for the day or future dates, optimize routes, track your team, and share your live location with customers. It is available on iOS and Android.
Yes. Everything available on the web platform is also available on the app, making it the only tool you need to manage your drivers on the go.
Yes. The route optimization feature automatically sequences stops in the most efficient order.
Yes. You can generate a live tracking link that makes your driver's location viewable by anyone with the link.
Yes. A live tracking link can be sent to multiple recipients simultaneously.
Yes. Using Twilio for SMS alerts you can create a custom alert that sends the client an SMS when the driver is within a specified radius of their location.
From the left navigation menu, click Stops, then click Import Stops in the top right. You can import data directly or download our template, fill it out, and then import it.
Click Stops from the side menu, then click on an individual stop to edit it. Under the Team Member heading, choose the team member you want to assign that stop to.
Yes. Click Optimize Stops from the side menu. Select your stops, choose your drivers on the next screen, and Locate2u will automatically assign and sequence stops across your team for maximum efficiency.
Account Settings
The app uses moderate battery throughout the day. We recommend keeping your smartphone on charge while inside a vehicle for best performance.
Yes. You can fully customize SMS messages via the SMS settings on both the web platform and the app.
Click Team, then Members from the left menu. Select the + icon in the top right corner to add new team members.
Yes. You can add stop-specific notes or custom fields via the Settings button in the menu.
Data and Security
Locate2u has been designed with security built into its architecture from the ground up, ensuring your data is completely secure and only accessible to those you authorize. We are working toward SOC 2 compliance. Read our full Security commitments.
Yes. Location data is only collected while you have active stops or tracking links. Once a stop is marked complete or cancelled, recipients can no longer see the driver's location. You can see who actively has access to location data from the links list in the mobile app.
Data is stored in Microsoft Azure data centres, currently based in the United States.
Your data remains in our system but you can request its deletion at any time in accordance with GDPR provisions.
You can configure the system to track team members during work hours only. Specific hours can be set per team member under Team settings on the web platform.
Pricing
Pricing starts from a low monthly fee per user. We have a range of plans depending on features and number of users, suitable for small, medium, and large businesses. View pricing plans.
The OBD plug-and-play device requires no installation fee. The hardwired device has an installation fee that varies depending on the number of devices purchased.
