Odoo is a popular open-source modular ERP with apps for sales, inventory, accounting, manufacturing, and more. The Odoo Fleet app provides a basic vehicle management module where you can record vehicle details, track fuel fill-ups, manage service contracts, log odometer readings, and assign drivers to vehicles.

But the Odoo Fleet module is fundamentally a record-keeping tool. It does not know where your vehicles are right now. It cannot optimise a delivery route. It has no mobile app for drivers. It cannot capture proof of delivery. It does not monitor driving behaviour. It does not send customer ETAs.

Locate2u adds the operational layer that the Odoo Fleet app is missing. The Problem

What the Odoo Fleet Module Cannot Do

Odoo Has the Records. Not the Real-Time View.

  • No real-time GPS tracking. Odoo Fleet stores vehicle data but has no GPS integration. You cannot see where any vehicle is right now. It is a database of vehicle records, not a live fleet map.
  • No route optimisation. Odoo Inventory creates delivery orders, but there is no engine to optimise the driving sequence across multiple stops. Drivers plan their own routes or follow the order they were given.
  • No mobile driver app for deliveries. Odoo does not provide a driver-facing app with turn-by-turn navigation, stop checklists, photo capture, or signature collection. Drivers use separate navigation apps and paper delivery sheets.
  • No driver behaviour analytics. Odoo Fleet records fuel fill-ups manually, but it cannot detect speeding, harsh braking, or excessive idling. There is no automated driver safety scoring.

Connect Odoo to Locate2u in Three Steps

  • 1Connect via Odoo External API. Authenticate with your Odoo instance using XML-RPC or JSON-RPC. Locate2u reads sale.order, stock.picking, and res.partner models. Works with Odoo Community and Enterprise, versions 14+.
  • 2Configure delivery order sync. Map Odoo delivery orders (stock.picking) to Locate2u delivery jobs. Define which picking types and warehouse locations trigger the sync. Link Odoo Fleet vehicle records to Locate2u vehicle profiles.
  • 3Go live with operational fleet management. Delivery orders flow from Odoo, routes are optimised, drivers use the mobile app, and delivery confirmations with POD write back to Odoo. The Odoo Fleet module continues handling vehicle admin while Locate2u handles operations.
