It’s officially open: Shenzhen-Kuala Lumpur’s international all-cargo route with JD Logistics. Cross-border trade between China and Southeast Asia is expected to boom in 2025.
The Boeing 737 took off from the international airport carrying a full load of cross-border e-commerce goods.
According to Statista, China has been the forerunner in e-commerce for the last ten years, outpacing the United States by more than $486 billion in revenue. The digital economy is making an increasingly significant contribution to the country’s GDP.
Researchers predict that by 2030, the Indonesian e-commerce market will generate around $160 billion in online retail sales.

New China, Southeast Asia cargo route details
JD Logistics says the new route will operate two to five flights per week. It hopes this will improve the “efficiency of the transportation of goods” between China and Southeast Asia.
The logistics provider has always advocated for a fully integrated supply chain in the region, hoping to bridge the gap that merchants and customers have identified.
Apart from this, JD Logistics has also established multiple self-operated warehouses throughout the region, enabling local and international brands and merchants to use them.
China has been the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) largest trading partner since 2009. ASEAN is a political and economic union of ten states in Southeast Asia, representing a population of more than 600 million people.
JD Logistics plans to expand
As part of its global expansion strategy, JD Logistics plans to double the total area of its self-operated overseas warehouses by the end of 2025.
At the same time, JD Express has expanded its services to cover seven Southeast Asian countries. This will assist local consumers in receiving parcels from China with “greater speed and reliability.”
Future plans for JD Logistics’s global expansion include increasing the frequency of its international flights. “Future plans also include continuing leveraging JD Airlines’ capabilities to open long-haul routes to Europe and North America,” says the provider.
