A new powerhouse hub in the logistics game in Ohio is about to change things up for the better for Levi Strauss, thanks to Maersk.
The logistics giant has opened a 1.2 million square foot fulfillment center in Groveport, Ohio, to support Levi Strauss & Co.’s (LS&Co.) wholesale, retail, and e-commerce operations.
The facility has been operational since August.
Strong transport links
The new facility will cut container handling time, and boost efficiency, as well as ensuring strong transport links.
For Levi Strauss, the new center is crucial to transforming its distribution network and strengthening its direct-to-consumer strategy.
In the coming months, Maersk will install EuroSort systems to handle 100 million outbound units annually, along with Maersk’s Warehouse Management System for improved operations.
Craig Jones, LS&Co.’s senior vice president of global distribution and logistics operations, says: “This Maersk-designed and operated facility is an important step in our strategy to transition to a hybrid distribution and logistics network that balances omni-capable owned-and-operated facilities with technologically advanced 3PL facilities like this one.”
Across North America, Maersk operates over 85 warehousing facilities covering approximately 22.5 million square feet.
Maersk business developments
Earlier this year, Maersk’s cold chain facility at Ruakura Superhub in Hamilton won the CBRE Industrial Property Award last week at New Zealand’s 2024 Property Industry Awards.
The ward-winning site is located next to the new SH1 dual carriageway, the key transport corridor between Hamilton and Auckland.
In July, the company revealed its new warehouse launch in Fredericia, Denmark. The site is located in Denmark’s Triangle Area, providing cross-country connectivity in just three to four hours.
The new addition to the Maersk family now allows the industry player to offer a complete end-to-end supply chain solution for businesses in and around the country.
