Parcel carrier Yodel and online platform Vinted will assist fashion lovers to receive items faster. Sellers list fashion items on the Vinted platform, sell it to a buyer and then ship it.
The expanded partnership will see Vinted’s current volumes delivered by Yodel increase. Most of the items will be delivered into over 6,000 Yodel stores in the UK via its partnership with PayPoint’s Collect+ network.
Live track orders
Vinted users can select either of Yodel’s store to store or store to door services. The services give sellers the option to drop off their parcel at their nearest store for their recipient to collect at theirs, or to deliver directly to their recipient’s address. As soon as their package has been dropped off in store, customers can live-track their orders via Yodel’s website or via the Yodel app.
Yodel’s CEO Mike Hancox says the partnership expansion will assist Vinted fashion community across the UK deliver and collect their pre-loved clothing. “The significant increase in out of home (OOH) parcel volume that we have seen year-on-year is testament to the success of Yodel’s OOH network, which customers have rated 4.7 out of 5. The increased volumes will also continue to support local storekeepers nationwide. Sales of pre-loved items have continued to grow strongly across 2023,” says Hancox.
Environmentally conscious
Vice president at Vinted Go, Vytautas Atkocatis says the company has seen huge growth in its marketplace in recent years as consumers become more environmentally conscious and are increasingly looking for additional sources of income. “Yodel’s range of flexible delivery options, tracking services and its vast OOH network has proven hugely effective at handling existing volumes and we look forward to working with them in this expanded capacity.”
Sell, buy and swap second-hand clothes
Vinted was inspired by founders Milda Mitkute and Justas Janauskas. Justas offered help and built a website to give away her clothes to friends. The rest as they say is history. Today, over 1,000 people work at Vinted to help the world sell, buy, and swap second-hand wardrobe items.
The growth in volumes from Vinted follows a dramatic rise in popularity of selling and sourcing pre-loved fashion, with the company’s transaction numbers growing sevenfold in the UK over the last 18 months. This has been fuelled by consumers moving away from fast fashion to make more sustainable choices and support them with additional income sources.
Last-mile deliveries
Earlier this year, Yodel entered into a collaboration with cloud-based e-commerce shipping solutions company ShipStation. The business relationship will see Yodel join ShipStation’s platform which will allow merchants to select Yodel as a delivery service. This integration will allow small and medium enterprises to enhance their delivery experience and meet changing customer demands.
