UK parcel carrier Yodel is on a mission to now deliver larger items. It has launched XPect XXL to help accommodate shoppers who purchase heavier products.
The XXL service, joining Yodel Xpect’s Mini, Medium, Large, and XL options, handles parcels up to 275cm long and 32kg. Deliveries are available six days a week from 7am to 9pm, with next-day or two-day options.
Customers get a two-hour delivery window, full tracking with a driver map, inflight divert options, and notifications via email or the customer app.
Retailers expanding online offering
What’s the bigger picture? The launch of Xpect XXL is the next step in Yodel’s service for irregular parcels, giving customers more options and flexibility.
This initiative follows the 2018 launch of the Merlin sortation system at the Wednesbury center, which is designed for large parcels and can process up to 2,900 items per hour.
Sam Holden, CCO at Yodel says as retailers continue to expand their online offerings, an ever-increasing number of larger and heavier products are being made available to consumers online.
“Our premium offering, Xpect, serves a range of needs from larger retailers to SMEs and mid-market ecommerce businesses, providing total transparency for end consumers. We’re excited to build on our existing service and by catering to XXL parcels we can continue to offer a comprehensive service to our clients and react to changing market conditions,” says Holden.
Key features of Yodel’s new services include:
- Two-hour delivery window: Customers receive a two-hour delivery window for their parcels.
- Notifications: Customers are informed by push notifications, SMS, and email
- Flexible delivery options: Next day and two-day delivery services are available.
- Delivery schedule: Deliveries are made from 7am to 9pm, six days a week.
- Deliveries are trackable for both Proof of Delivery (POD) and non-POD parcels.
- Parcel size and weight: Parcels up to 30kg and 170cm can be delivered with this service.
