Amazon now offers free same-day delivery to Sydney residents who are Prime members. The retail giant says this aligns with its goal to provide the fastest deliveries in Australia.

Country manager Janet Menzies says they are focused on getting even faster for Prime members. “[We] are thrilled to be hitting a major milestone with the announcement of free same-day delivery across a huge range of products for members in Sydney.”

Ordering same-day delivery saves time and money. According to a report focusing on faster online delivery times, Amazon says it adds $350 million of value to its Australian consumers’ lives by improving convenience.

How to get free same-day delivery with Amazon

Here is how shoppers can qualify for this discount

  • You need to be a Prime member.
  • Your order must be over $49.
  • Orders must be placed before midday to be delivered before 10 pm.
  • Only certain products are eligible.

You can get anything from a torch for your family camping trip to a water bottle for the kids. Imagine ordering on Amazon and receiving it at home that same afternoon, without paying extra.

What does free Amazon delivery mean for logistics?

Free same-day delivery for Sydney customers indicates how last-mile delivery logistics is evolving in an urban environment.

With promises to deliver products within hours, the demand for speed and efficiency is higher.

Amazon has been focusing on building a network for speed and efficiency, and this investment seems to be paying off now.

It relies on local fulfillment centers, real-time data analytics, and partnerships with last-mile delivery providers.

Amazon, eBay, and Temu

Earlier this year, Amazon took the leading spot as Aussies’ favorite online retailer. It overtook eBay, the leading retailer in Australia, for years.

On the other hand, Temu is now the fifth-largest e-commerce platform in Australia.

According to an Ipsos Iris study, Temu increased its audience by nearly 40% in May. Surprisingly, Temu has only been available in Australia for one year. It has 11 million online customers using its service.
