Logistics software companies are setting their sights on even bigger things, like expanding its market into other countries, assisting retailers to become even better. Shippit has revealed it is expanding into New Zealand, Business News Australia reports.
The company’s co-founder and joint CEO, William On, took to social media, reacting to this company milestone: “NZ Kia Ora! Like South East Asia we were led by our customers and crossed the ditch.”
The New Zealand market is something the business has been watching from a distance for some time. “Like Australia, New Zealand is an entrepreneurial, proud, and innovative retail market. Our arrival comes at a pivotal time, though, as retailers prepare to compete against foreign retail entrants,” told the publication.
Shippit’s shipping software solution
Shippit started in 2014 with a few fashion and homeware boutiques in Sydney’s Surry Hills. Its multi-carrier allocation technology connects retailers, carriers, and customers to advance the retail industry. As a top shipping software, it handles shipping, delivery, order fulfillment, and post-purchase experiences with Australia’s leading carriers and partners.
The business has worked with thousands of retailers across Australia and New Zealand, sending millions of deliveries each month. Since July 2020, Shippit’s software has also supported e-commerce fulfillment in Singapore and Malaysia.
What does Shippit’s expansion into New Zealand mean?
Australian and Kiwi retailers can now:
- Ship and deliver within New Zealand, or from Australia to New Zealand.
- Enjoy fast and reliable coverage (95%) across both countries, including overnight deliveries within islands and 2-day deliveries between islands.
- Ship items up to 50 kilograms, including oversized freight.
- Automatically validate delivery addresses.
New Zealand’s logistics industry
New Zealand’s logistics industry seems to be pulling out all the stops in industry development in recent months. In June, shipping giant Maersk’s cold chain facility at Ruakura Superhub in Hamilton won the CBRE Industrial Property Award last week at New Zealand’s 2024 Property Industry Awards.
In April, Air New Zealand selected Wellington and Marlborough airports as the ports for its first all-electric aircraft. The airline is partnering with NZ Post to operate a cargo-only service.
Australian retail market
Mordor Intelligence reports online retailing is one of the fastest-growing channels of distribution in the country, owing to the high urbanization rate and the growing e-commerce shoppers in Australia.
Asendia’s latest e-commerce market watch 2024 shows Australia’s e-commerce market is booming, and the market is taking sustainability to heart.
