It’s peak season, and parcel carriers are on the hunt for seasonal workers to help with the influx of deliveries this December.

Yodel expects a 53% increase in parcels over the next three months. To cope with the increased volumes, it’s hiring over 3,000 seasonal roles across the UK. Yodel is also searching for 2,500 couriers and 600 warehouse roles.

The temporary roles could become permanent next year. Yodel has already noticed a growth trend in parcel volumes this year outside of peak seasons. Volumes are reportedly up 200% in the last two years.

Yodel sees a steady rise in parcel volumes

Yodel CEO Mike Hancox expects a boom in parcel delivery demand this Black Friday and Christmas season.

“We’re committed to supporting our network of couriers and providing a competitive range of benefits, and our partnership with Onsi Pay will enable us to continue leading the industry on this front,” says Hancox.

DHL gearing up for peak season 2024

DHL expects global e-commerce sales to rise 8.8% this year and is, therefore, expanding its capacity to accommodate cargo volumes.

It’s spending more than $111 million on expanding the air cargo and ground handling capacity.

CEO John Pearson says DHL Express considers December an important period for the business and a challenging time for customers.

Amazon is searching for extra workers

Amazon Australia is also looking for 600 new seasonal workers to help out during peak shopping periods, which include Prime Big Deal Days and Black Friday.

The roles are in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Newcastle, Gold Coast, Gosford and Geelong.

The retail giant seeks people to help pick, pack, and ship customer orders. No previous experience is needed.
